Here is a super easy 5 minute recipe for chatpate jain chhole with gravy. I've gotten really good feedback on this recipe. It has the simplicity of home and the tangy taste of restaurants.
You can create this recipe with just chhickeas and foodaids chhole masala if you don’t have chillis or tomatoes and it will taste just as good. Simply add half a cup water for gravy instead of tomatoes.
Cooking time: 5-7 minutes
White Chickpeas (Kabuli Chana) – 150 gm
Small Tomatoes - 3 crushed to paste (or 100 gm tomato paste)
Green Chillis – 2 chopped
Desi Ghee or Cooking Oil – 2 tbsp
Foodaids Jain Chhole Masala – 2 tbsp
Salt – ½ tbsp or as per taste
Red Chilli Powder (optional)
Fresh Corriander Leaves
Soak chickpeas in water for 5-6 hours
Boil chickpeas for 30 minutes
(You may avoid these steps if using canned chickpeas)
Step 1: Add ghee/oil in a wok on medium heat
Step 2: Saute green chillis for 2 minutes
Step 3: Add tomato paste. Stir and saute till slightly thick
Step 4: Add salt and Foodaids Jain Chhole Masala to the tomato paste and mix well
Step 5: Add boiled chickpeas, mix well and let stand for 5 minutes while stirring occasionally
Step 6: Convert to serving dish and garnish with fresh corriendar leaves
Serve with homemade bhature or store bought kulche. It also tastes amazing with rice.
